Therapist

Although I don't let it bother me too much most of the times, it really annoys me sometimes when people think the only purpose you have (in life) is to listen to them... Sure, I like listening to what friends/family/colleagues have to say, but if they have no interest whatsoever in me - then I start to feel like a therapist. But I don't want to upset anyone so I just remain quiet and agree "yes, yes", "oh really?", "hmmm", "OK..." etc. But the more frequently you speak with a person (or are spoken to), the more annoying it gets. But how can you possibly say it and not make the other person feel like crap? "Don't you want to know what I have been up to?" , "Maybe next time, before you start telling me about YOUR things, you ask me how things are with me?", "are you aware that other people have lives as well?". Yeah strong sentences you shouldn't say out loud unless you want to hurt somebody, but they are in my head nonetheless. I'm actually a person with a lot to of interesting stuff to say if you get to know me, but since these people have a monologue and then consider the conversation being over - they'll never know. A pity.
