Back to work

Summer finally ended and we managed to squeeze in so many things right at the end of it: Christening of a friend's daughter in Istanbul, hen party and stag do in London two consecutive weekends, visitors from Spain and Sweden, wedding in Czech republic and K's christening in Mallorca.

The day after coming home, it was time for K to start settling in at nursery. I had been dreading this day for a long time and tried not to think about it too much. But the day came and he actually seemed to enjoy being there. It was such a huge relief to see him playing with a musical toy and enjoying himself while I was leaving the first day. The rest of the week went in a similar fashion. I can only say "thank god" for that because the following week I was back at work.

That brings us up to this week. It was a good week at work. I jumped right into a new role at work which is being the team leader of the team I used to work in. It felt good to come back in that way. I didn't worry too much about K which was good, and I quickly got back into the swing of things. I feel slightly overwhelmed about all the things I need to get done before Christmas though... But so far so good!

A few pictures from November

Me sleeping in the plane to Majorca - as usual when travelling. D thought it would be good to capture the moment...
We went to sea front for a walk with Boby - the family dog - it was amazing to be in the sun for a change!
Boby was taking charge and deciding where to go
We met up with some friends and one of the couples is also expecting - in the same week as us!
Bump connection!
Palma in the afternoon. The X-mas lights are beautiful over here
We also met another new member of the group of friends little J
Of course he was the centre  of attention! D's sister A is very used to babies as she's a midwife. She gave us   very useful baby and birth lessons while we were there
When we came back we were invited to a kids X-mas afternoon tea at a friend's house. Very good learning experience for the future :-)

Home alone

My dinner: a big haloumi & edamame salad plus a veggie burger with garlic fried mushrooms. Yum!

This weekend D is in Mallorca. I decided it was a good opportunity to catch up on my studying... but not only that... I caught up on some America's Next Top Model Cycle 13 on Youtube!!! Can't tell you enough how nice it is sometimes just to sit back and relax and watch some rubbish TV on Youtube. Especially watching it on Youtube where you can watch all the episodes that have aired and just watch one after the other... I think it prepares me to really face my complicated CFA books.

You know, a good dosis of nonsense first and then you bite into a chunk of the contrary - Financial modelling and quantitative methods in finance...

SURPRIIIISE!!

My cake - isn't it lovely?
My great ex colleagues at Alteon

Juan with D's mom MC and sister Aina and her boyfriend Alberto . Happy picture!

Friend S with D's youngest sister L and friend C

I took a deep breath and thought it would be easy peazy to blow out all the candles on my own, but I was wrong... too many candles!!! Got some help from D's god daughter...

Out and about in the legendary pub "Karajo"

My god!!! We arrived in Palma late last night me and D. A dinner to celebrate my birthday with D and his family was scheduled. Well that's what I though anyway!! When D told me to go into the kitchen to say hi to Bobby - the dog - I though it was a bit weird... "I can say hi to him later" I thought... But the door opened and in the dark kitchen I saw a gathering of people and suddenly the lights came on and all my friends and D's family were there!! "SORPRESA!!!" they yelled as I entered the kitchen. I was speechless for a good minute! There was a lot of food on the table that was absolutely amazing. D's parents had spent the whole day preparing it. Everything was so unexpected and so nicely organised I was very touched. The master mind behind all of this was of course D but I heard that my wonderful friend M was also very active in the plan. Great job!

After the party we went out to the best bar in Mallorca: The Karajo. There we danced, sang (shouted) and laughed together. It was a great night.

I am so thankful and happy I have all of these lovely people in my life!!!

PS. Pictures coming soon!

Prospero año nuevo!!!

Prospero año nuevo!!!

The picture is of the Cathedral in Palma de Mallorca. Beautiful!

Yesterday was a tough one!! After many hours of travelling and some waiting in the Airport of Berlin, I touched down in the beautiful island of Mallorca.

After having had a wonderful dinner with David and his family we followed the spanish tradition of having 12 grapes during the last 12 seconds of the year - for good luck. We all made it even though most of us chewed and swallowed the seeds as well! After having toasted with champagne to welcome the new year, me, David, David's sister Aina and her boyfriend Alberto headed for the party.

We had a lot of fun and danced until 4 o'clock in the morning. It had been a very long day so I was knackered to say the least!!!

I hope you all had a great New Years Eve and that you will have a prosperous 2009!!
